Summary:

Millingport Formation of Albemarle Group named in Stanly Co., central NC. Unit is divided into Floyd Church Member and overlying Yadkin Member (reduced in rank). Rocks formerly assigned to Yadkin Graywacke and McManus Formation (in part), now abandoned. Consists of sandstone, siltstone, argillite, and minor pyroclastic rocks. Ranges in thickness from 1800 m to 2700 m. Conformably overlies Cid Formation of Albemarle Group; interbedded with Uwharrie Formation. Age is Ordovician(?).

Summary:

Millingport Formation abandoned. Albemarle Group now includes (ascending): Tillery Formation, Cid Formation with its lower unnamed mudstone member and upper Flat Swamp Member, Floyd Church Formation, and Yadkin Formation, both raised in rank from members of Millingport.
