Summary:

Named as the basal formation of the Lake Bonneville Group for Little Cottonwood Creek, Salt Lake Co, UT. Type section is a series of exposures in the western bluff of Dry Creek 0.7 mi southwest of the Granite Latter Day Saints Church, NW1/4 NW1/4 sec 14, T3S, R1E, Salt Lake Co, UT on Wasatch uplift, where 124.7 ft is exposed. Divided at type into the Alpine Member (formerly Alpine Formation) at base, the Bonneville Member (form3erly Bonneville Formation) in the middle, and the Provo Member (formerly Provo Formation) at top. Consists of gravel, sand, silt, and clay. Overlies the Dimple Dell Soil (new). Bears the Graniteville Soil (new). Measured sections. Correlation chart. Geologic map. Of late Pleistocene age.
