Mentioned as being intrusive into Paleozoic rocks and overlain by the basal conglomerate of the Cretaceous in the Bisbee district in the Pedregosa basin. (Not a formal proposal of name). Is early Mesozoic in age.

Intrudes Precambrian schist and is overlain by basal conglomerate of the Cretaceous (northwest of Bisbee in the Pedregosa basin), but its relation to the Paleozoic is not clear (not a formal proposal of name).

Pg. 53-55, pl. 5. Juniper Flat granite. Light-reddish-brown in outcrop and pinkish-gray on fresh fracture. Most it is porphyritic within central Cochise County, southeastern Arizona, although much of it along Tombstone Canyon is equigranular. Considerable range in grain size. Forms discordant intrusive masses that cut all formations up to and including Horquilla limestone. Rough tendency to form sills beneath Bolsa quartzite; all other contacts appear to be clean cut and without regard to preexisting structures. Older than Glance formation. Age is Triassic or Jurassic. Type locality designated. Report includes geologic map.
Type locality: Juniper Flat on west side of Mule Mountains, where granite is well exposed. Also well exposed on northeast wall of Tombstone Canyon. In Bisbee quadrangle, west-central Cochise Co., southeastern AZ.

Dated as 163 Ma by K-Ar method and 176 and 178 Ma by Rb-Sr method and therefore presumed to be of Early Jurassic age. Is in Pedregosa basin.

Is intrusive into late Paleozoic rocks and is unconformably overlain by Bisbee Group (Early Cretaceous); thus it is probably Triassic or Jurassic in age on basis of stratigraphic position dating.

Samples collected from Juniper Flat Granite in AZ, Lat. 31 deg. 30 min. 10 sec. N., Long. 110 deg. 00 min. 39 sec. W. Recalculated Rb-Sr ages on biotite are 186 Ma and 188 Ma.

Samples collected from Juniper Flat Granite in the Mule Mountains, Cochise Co., AZ. Recalculated K-Ar age is 171 +/-7 Ma; recalculated Rb-Sr age is 182 +/-7 Ma.
