Summary:

Geologic sketch map shows unit divided into four informal units: andesite, sedimentary, and lower and upper ignimbrite. Type areas designated as exposures of the following: andesite unit located at head of Tybo Canyon NE/4, T6N R49E; sedimentary unit at 4 km east of ignimbrite plug no. 2 on both sides of unnamed valley, NW/4 T7N R49E; lower and upper ignimbrite [units] at 1.6 km east of Italian Springs, NE/4 T6N R49E, Nye Co, NV. Ignimbrite composed of gray and brown, moderately to intensely welded, crystal-vitric rhyolite and rhyodacite lapilli tuff. Upper ignimbrite is jointed, blocky and cliff forming. Is 1500 m thick. Unconformably overlies Rawhide Formation (new). Unconformably underlies Box Canyon Formation (new). Age is Oligocene.
