Summary:

Indecision Creek Sandstone Member of Naknek Formation. Name applied to 2nd from uppermost member (of 5) on Alaska Peninsula, southwestern Alaska; is recognized along entire 650 km. Rocks formerly called (informal) upper sandstone member (Detterman and Reed, 1980) and were previously mapped as Staniukovich Formation in Ugashik and Karluk (1:250,000) quadrangles (see Detterman and others, 1983; 1987). Sandstone is fine-grained, thin-bedded to massive, locally cross-bedded, and abundantly fossiliferous. Thickness 871.7 m at type section. Conformably overlies Snug Harbor Siltstone Member of Naknek Formation. Conformably underlies Katolinat Conglomerate Member (new) of Naknek Formation mainly in Katmai area or near Wide Bay. In most places unconformably underlies strata of Late Cretaceous or Tertiary age. Age is Late Jurassic (Tithonian) based on abundant BUCHIA fossils.
Type section: on east-facing slope of unnamed mountain opposite Mount Chiginagak, in secs. 35 and 36, T. 35 S., R. 49 W., Ugashik A-4 quadrangle (scale 1:63,360), Alaska Peninsula, southwestern AK. Named from thick sandstone section measured on Indecision Creek, Ugashik A-4 quadrangle.
