LeRoy, L.W., 1946, Stratigraphy of the Golden-Morrison area, Jefferson County, Colorado: Colorado School of Mines Quarterly, v. 41, no. 2, p. __.

Summary:

Pg. 100 (fig. 23), 103, 104. [/]Golden member of [/]Arapahoe-Denver Formation. Light-tan to light-brown silts, clays, silty shales, clayey sands, and some medium-grained sandstones. Thickness ranges from 60 feet on South Table Mountain to 76 feet on north side of North Table Mountain. Overlies [/]Pleasant View member (new); immediately underlies capping basalt flow of North and South Table Mountains. Age is Tertiary.
Type section: on eastern extremity of South Table Mountain, in NW/4 sec. 31, T. 3 S., R. 69 W., Morrison quadrangle, Jefferson Co., north-central CO. Recognized only on slopes of Table Mountains. [Named from town of Golden, Jefferson Co., CO.]
[The assignment of a unit to 2 adjacent formations, in one vertical sequence, is considered informal nomenclature (CSN, 1933; ACSN, 1961, 1970; NACSN, 1983, 2005, 2021). The use of a hyphen between undifferentiated formations is not considered proper notation (see CSN, 1933, Art. 13a, p. 437-438). Where the formations have not been separated in the field, it is considered proper notation to add the word "and", "undifferentiated", "included", etc.; and list formations in order of age (youngest first).]
