Summary:

Named as oldest unit of Sequoia Intrusive Suite(new), for exposures in Giant Forest in east-central part of Giant Forest and west-central part of Triple Divide Peak 15' quads., Tulare Co., CA. Type locality is Moro Rock, just south of Giant Forest, Giant Forest quad. Crops out over a broad area in eastern part of Giant Forest and western part of Triple Divide Peak quads. Consists of medium-grained equigranular hornblende-rich granodiorite with mafic inclusions. Called Giant Forest pluton by Ross(1958). Intrudes Triassic and (or) Jurassic metamorphic rocks to southwest and granite of Lodgepole to east. Encloses in part, and appears genetically related to, other units of the suite. U-Pb ages of 97-102 Ma. Assigned to Cretaceous.
