[Frozenhead grit in Anderson sandstone.] Frozenhead grit (p. 324); Frozenhead sandstone (p. 328). [Shown in section of Anderson formation, as lying about 25 feet above Pilot Knob sandstone (basal member of Anderson). Top lies about 300 feet below top of Frozenhead Mountain, Morgan County, northern Tennessee. Age is Pennsylvanian.
[U.S. Board on Geographic Names gives Frozen Head as correct spelling.]

In type locality 35 feet thick; in Cross Mountain section 60 feet thick; maximum thickness 100 feet. Occurs near top of group; overlies an unnamed shale unit; underlies shale interval below Low Gap sandstone (new) of Cross Mountain group (new). Age is Early Pennsylvanian (Pottsville).
