Summary:

Pg. 11, 19, pls. 2, 3, 4. Fodderstack sandstone of Redoak Mountain group. Thickness at least 12 feet in Cross Mountain section; about 5 feet in Petros section. Separated from underlying Caryville sandstone (new) by shale interval that ranges in thickness from 50 to 150 feet and contains the Sharp coal; separated from overlying Silvey Gap sandstone (new) by shale interval that ranges from 45 to 110 feet in thickness and contains the Red Ash and Walnut Mountain coal. Age is Early Pennsylvanian (Pottsville).
Named from Little Fodderstack Mountain, Petros 7.5-min. quadrangle, [approx. Lat. 36 deg. 06 min. 19 sec. N., Long. 84 deg. 23 min. 46 sec. W., Anderson-Morgan Co. line], where it forms a bench on which a trail encircles the mountain [now mined].
