Summary:

Name Downing Brook Bed proposed for thin dolomitic interval of the Vernon Formation at Vernon, NY. Unit contains eurypterids and fish remains, but unlike other newly named euryipterid-bearing beds of the Vernon (Harris Hill, Monroeav, Pittsford, and Barge Canal Beds of western NY) is composed of fine-grained dolomite rather than black shale.
