Summary:
Pg. 84 (fig. 5), 85. De Leon formation, lower formation (of 2) of Big Saline group. Sequence of limestone and shale. Includes "limestone C" of Plummer and Moore's (1922) type log of the Ranger district. Underlies Sipe Springs formation (new) of Big Saline group; overlies Comyn formation (new) of Marble Falls group (Morrow). Age is Pennsylvanian (Lampasas).
Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 3,870 to 4,132 ft, Roxana Petroleum Company Seaman No. 1 test well, northwest Palo Pinto Co., north-central TX. Named from town of De Leon in northern Comanche Co., TX.
