Decker, R.W., 1962, Geology of the Bull Run quadrangle, Elko County, Nevada: Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology Bulletin, no. 60, 65 p., (incl. geologic map, scale 1:62,500)

Summary:

Pg. 18, 36 (table 1), pI. 1. Chellis Limestone. Blue-gray fine crystalline, laminated to massive limestone with numerous calcite seams and coatings; some argillaceous and dolomitic beds. Thickness about 1,900 feet. Overlies Aura Formation (new); underlies Storff Formation (new); both contacts conformable. Age is Silurian(?), based on regional correlation. [Age is Silurian on map legend.]
Type locality not designated. Named from Chellis mine which is situated near contact of the limestone and underlying Aura Formation on north slope of White Rock Canyon, Bull Run 15-min quadrangle, Elko Co., northeastern NV. Forms sinuous band trending east-west across Bull Run Mountains. Continuity of exposure partially disrupted by faulting, which offsets formation.
