Summary:

Type section: quarry, SW/4 NW/4 sec.36 T14N R63E, 300 to 450 m southwest of the ovens in Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park, east side of southern part of Egan Range, White pine Co, NV. Consists of tuff which is crystal-rich, ash-flow in three cooling units. Contains visible crystals of honey-yellow sphene. Is 130 m thick. Overlies Sheep Pass Formation or strata of Permian age; underlies Windous Butte Formation. Is Oligocene age based on K-Ar age determination of 32 Ma.
