Birkeland, P.W., 1963, Pleistocene volcanism and deformation of the Truckee area, north of Lake Tahoe, California: Geological Society of America Bulletin, v. 74, no. 12, p. 1453-1464.

Summary:

Pg. 1453-1464. Boca Ridge flow member of Lousetown Formation. Boca Ridge flows are probably some of oldest flows in area. Topographic position of flow on Boca Ridge high above streams suggests that it is older than adjacent Hirschdale flow (new). At least 20 flows recognized in area. Nine flows (or groups of flows) are named and given informal member status in Lousetown Formation. Age is early Pleistocene.
Named for occurrence on and in vicinity of Boca Ridge, Truckee area, north of Lake Tahoe, northeastern CA. Flow on Boca Ridge projects eastward across Lower Truckee Canyon to a flow along west flank of Carson Range.
