Summary:

Named as second from top of three units of Kandik Group. Type section designated as exposures in Biederman Bluff face, northwest side of Yukon River 6.4 km northwest of mouth of Kandik River, NW/4 sec.32 T7N R25E, Charley River B-4 quad, northeast AK. Composed of grayish-black argillite, with thin interbeds of siltstone and sandstone. Is rhythmically bedded to massive, folded and faulted. Axial-plane cleavage is common, and fossils are scarce. Type section is 300 m thick; range is 300 to 3000 m. Conformably overlies Keenan Quartzite (new) (Kandik Group), or in places, older Step Conglomerate (new). Unconformably underlies Kathul Graywacke (new) (Kandik Group). Age is Early Cretaceous.
