Summary:

Named for small natural basin called the Bathtub in Santa Rita Mountains, Santa Cruz Co, AZ. Type area is near Temporal Gulch in sec 23, T21S, R15E in Mount Wrightson quad, AZ. On southeast flank of Santa Rita Mountains. Lowest member contains coarse polymictic boulder conglomerate and volcanic sandstone; middle member rhyolitic tuff breccia and andesitic flows; top member is largely dacitic volcanic breccia, and rhyolitic tuff and flows. Is 1,500-2,300 ft thick. Unconformably overlies Temporal Formation and unconformably overlain by Bisbee Formation of Early Cretaceous age. Assigned an Early Cretaceous age.

Summary:

Is Lower Cretaceous formation in Santa Rita Mountains (Santa Cruz and Pima Cos, AZ) in Basin-and-Range province. Is divided into three informal members following Drewes (1970). Overlies Temporal Formation (Neocomian) with general disconformity but locally with slight angular unconformity. Underlies Glance Conglomerate (Aptian) of Bisbee Group with slight unconformity. Is 1,500-2,300 ft thick. Is shown to be correlative in part with Glance Conglomerate in Huachuca Mountains and age is shown to be Neocomian (Early Cretaceous) on correlation chart (fig. 5).
