Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: Slate Hill, about 1 mi south of Marcellus. Complete section exposed in Jackknife ravine on northeast slope of hill. Named from exposures at village of Marcellus, Onondaga Co., central NY (Cooper 1936).
