Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: easternmost exposure of the Golconda in IL, on the south slope of hill along west edge of NE/4 SE/4 sec. 9, T. 12 S., R. 10 E., Cave in Rock 15-min quadrangle, Hardin Co., southeastern IL. Named from an abandoned village 1 mi to northeast, known variously as Fraileys, Fraileys Landing, or Fraileys Store (McFarlan and others, 1955).
