Reference section (subsurface) [partial]: depth-interval 8,117 to 8,163 ft, Prudhoe Bay State No.1 well, in sec. 10, T. 11 N., R. 14 E., U.P.M. (Fackler and others, 1970).
Reference section (subsurface): depth-interval 8,555 to 8,591 ft, BP 21-11-13 well, Prudhoe Bay oil field, in sec. 21, T. 11 N., R. 13 E., U.P.M., North Slope, AK (Jones and Speers, 1976).
Name Sag River is an abbreviation of nearby Sagavanirktok River (W.P. Brosge, oral commun., 1970).
