Type section: outcrops along the south bank of the Rapidan River, southeast corner of the Culpeper East quadrangle, 720 m (2,360 ft) north of spot elevation 103 m (339 ft) on VA State Road 681, Unionville quadrangle, near Raccoon Ford, Orange Co., VA (Lee, 1980).
