Well exposed west and north of Pochnoi Point, Semisopochnoi Island, largest of young volcanic islands of western Aleutians. Exposed chiefly in northeast, south, and southwest parts of island, outside central lowland; elsewhere covered by products of later volcanic eruptions. Named from Pochnoi Point, Semisopochnoi Island, western Aleutian Islands, AK (Coats, 1959).
