Not stated. The McAfee, including all 3 facies, underlies about 61 sq mi, in Mount Barcroft 15-min quadrangle and extending beyond the north, east, and south borders of the quadrangle, Inyo batholith. Origin of name not stated by author, but probably named from McAfee Creek, Mount Barcroft 15-min quadrangle, CA and NV (Emerson, 1966).
