Named from outcrops south of Lac La Croix, northern St. Louis Co., MN (Southwick and Sims, 1980).
Reference localities: (1) main body in roadcut along Echo Trail, just south of Little Indian Sioux River, and (2) quartz-feldspar gneiss border facies near Namakan Lake (Southwick and Sims, 1980).
