Hughes Gap Formation of Great Smoky Group of Ocoee Supergroup (GA*,NC*,TN*)
Named from Hughes Gap, Mineral Bluff quadrangle, Fannin Co., central northern GA, where an almost complete section is exposed. Formation crops out in a belt that enters Mineral Bluff quadrangle near Franklin Mountain, NC, and leaves the quadrangle in vicinity of Gravelly Gap, GA (Hurst, 1955).
