Type section: Victory School section, abandoned quarry on west side of Pine Creek, north of Victory School, 3.2 km southwest of Mount Morris, in NW/4 SW/4 SE/4 sec. 32, T. 24 N., R. 9 E., [approx. Lat. 42 deg. 01 min. 50 sec. N., Long. 89 deg. 28 min. 48 sec. W., southwestern corner Oregon 15-min quadrangle, 1967 ed.], Ogle Co., northern IL (Willman and Kolata, 1978).
Named from town of Haldane, [in sec. 21, T. 24 N., R. 8 E., Forreston South 7.5-min quadrangle], Ogle Co., northern IL, 8 km northwest of type section (Willman and Kolata, 1978).
