Subunits:

(alphabetical) --all in CA*: Bass Lake Tonalite, Knowles Granodiorite, Ward Mountain Trondhjemite.
Informal units: tonalite of Ross Creek; granites of Hogan, Goat and Thornberry Mountains; granodiorite of Arch Rock, Sawmill Mountain and Crane Flat.

Early Cretaceous*

Type area: Ward Mountain-Bass Lake area, central Sierra Nevada [approx. Lat. 37 deg. 00 min. to 38 deg. 00 min. N., Long. 119 deg. 15 min. to 120 deg. 00 min. W., Madera Co., CA] (Bateman, 1992).
