Type area: Fairview Peak, in secs. 16 and 17, T. 51 N., R. 4 E., and vicinity, notably mountaineous terrain extending north from peak, Fairview Peak 7.5-min quadrangle, Gunnison Co., south-central CO. Named from Fairview Peak (DeWitt and others, 2002, USGS Geol. Inv. Ser. Map I-2738, scale 1:30,000, p. 17-20).
