Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: 1 km north of Mesa, on hillslope on north side of Esquatzel Coulee, from 223 to 241 m elevation, in NW/4 NW/4 sec. 25, T. 13 N., R. 30 E., Mesa quadrangle, Franklin Co., southeastern WA (Swanson and others, 1979).
Reference locality: on south side of the Coulee, in SW/4 NW/4 sec. 25, T. 13 N., R. 30 E., Mesa quadrangle, Franklin Co., southeastern WA (Swanson and others, 1979).
