Named from Corwin Bluff, about 30 mi east of Cape Lisburne (Schrader, 1902).
Type section: along coast of Chukchi Sea at Corwin Bluff, from 0.6 mi west of Thetis Creek to Risky Creek and 0.3 mi upstream along Risky Creek, Lat. 68 deg. 45 min. N., Long. 165 deg 10 min. to 165 deg. 35 min. W., northwestern AK (Chapman and Sable, 1960).
