Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: outcrops along The Virginian RR, 0.5 mi (0.8 km) northwest of Long Island Station, Campbell Co., VA. Named from the town of Cedar Forest at the junction of State Roads 761 and 639, Pittsylvania Co., VA (Meyertons, 1963).
