Type locality: northeast side of Oscura Mountains, in SE/4 sec. 32, T. 5 S., R. 6 E., [Bingham 15-min quadrangle], Socorro Co., central NM. Named from Bruton Tank, [1+ mi southeast of type locality, in sec. 9, T. 6 S., R. 6 E., Bingham 15-min quadrangle] (Thompson, 1942).
