Type locality: in stream bed, in SE/4 NW/4 SW/4 sec. 9, T. 48 N., R. 8 W., Callaway Co., MO. Named from exposures to east, west, and south of Bachelor (Mehl, 1960; see also MO Geol. Survey lexicon, Thompson, 2001).
