Summary:

Volcanics of Wagon Wheel Gap. [Rocks previously assigned to Farmers Creek Rhyolite (see Ratte and Steven, 1967, USGS Prof. Paper 524-H, p. H15, pl. 1; Steven, 1968, USGS Open-File Rpt. 68-259, Geol. map Wagon Wheel Gap fluorspar district).] Consists of a complex assemblage of tuff breccias, welded tuffs, lava flows, and sedimentary beds, with some interlayered tongues of tuff of Masonic Park. Poorly exposed in fault blocks and cut by small intrusive plugs and dikes. May represent a local volcano of Sheep Mountain age [late Oligocene].
[Mapped around Wagon Wheel Gap, in secs. 25, 26, 35, and 36, T. 41 N., R. 1 E., southeastern corner Creede 15-min quadrangle, Mineral Co., southwestern CO.]
