Summary:

Widely distributed on Tanana River. Geologic sketch maps show unit extends into Yukon Territory and as far west as Baker Creek. Composed of micaceous, graphitic, and calcareous schists. Between Makutzu and Salchakat Rivers on the Tanana unit contains several large infolded masses of gneissoid porphyritic granite. Tanana schists are distinctive horizon from adjacent gneisses. Mendenhall (1900, same volume) recognizes Tanana schists within Delta River Valley. Correlation table shows age as pre-Silurian.
