Summary:

Named for Soldier Pass. Type area is Soldier Pass and area between Buckhorn Spring on southeastern side of Deep Spring Valley and Cottonwood Creek in southern White and northern Inyo Mountains, Mono and Inyo Cos, CA. Comprised of monzonite of Eureka Valley, monzodiorite of Marble Canyon, monzonite of Joshua Flat, granodiorite of Beer Creek, and Cottonwood Granite. Only three units, monzonite of Joshua Flat, granodiorite of Beer Creek and Cottonwood Granite crop out in map area (about 25 sq km). Rocks are alkalicalcic. Age is Middle Jurassic based on age of included units.
