Summary:

Type locality: Maris "pebble" mine, about 8 miles northeast of Manhattan Range, north Nye Co, south-central NV (p. 138). Consists of small dikes and irregular masses of brecciated rhyolite; crops out in belt 1 mile wide extending northwestward from north side of Salisbury Peak to the edge of Big Smokey Valley. Cuts Round Rock tuff and rhyolite and Bald Mountain lake beds. Fine-grained and pale pink to purple; inclusions of slate, limestone, and granite. Age is late Miocene or Pliocene.

Summary:

Intrusive rhyolite named Maris Rhyolite by Ferguson (1924) in Manhattan mining district is of same lithology and age as Oddie Rhyolite. Name Oddie Rhyolite is older and thus retained; name Maris Rhyolite is abandoned.
