Summary:

Named Lackawaxen conglomerate for village and other places within the Lackawaxen Township, Pike Co., PA. It is separated from the overlying Montrose red shale by 30 feet of greenish gray sandstones and from the underlying Delaware flags by 350 feet of sandstones and shales. Thickness is 50 feet. Later in this report, the conglomerate beds called Lackawaxen are included in his Delaware River flags, and is described as a very massive pebbly bed, 30 to 75 feet thick. Age is considered Late Devonian.

Summary:

Lackawaxen Conglomerate of White (1882) adopted, reduced in rank, and assigned as the Lackawaxen Member of the Upper Devonian Catskill Formation. Consists of gray feldspathic sandstone, fine- to medium-grained, and minor red siltstone and claystone. Two thin conglomeratic beds are at the base and near the top; 200-500 ft thick. Over Delaware River Member; underlies Poplar Gap and Packerton Members, undivided. Follows usage of the Pennsylvania Geological Survey (Berg and others, 1983). .
