Summary:

Is one of five formations assigned to the Gannett Group. Overlies Bechler Formation of Gannett Group. Underlies the newly named Smoot Formation, upper formation of Gannett; in previous reports, Smoot was an unnamed part of Gannett. Isopach map; thickens west from less than 100 ft in western Lincoln Co, WY (Greater Green River basin) and Teton Co, WY (Yellowstone province) west into Caribou and Bear Lake Cos, ID (Wasatch uplift) and Bonneville Co, ID (Snake River basin) where it is 300+ ft thick. Cross sections. Section 244+ ft thick measured and described in NW1/4 T29N, R118W, Lincoln Co, WY. Composed mostly of massive limestone in lower part and thin-bedded limestone and interbedded gray calcareous shale and mudstone in upper part. Type section stated to be the Draney ranch in Caribou Co. Similar lithologically to the older Peterson Limestone of the Gannett. Fossils include charophytes, ostracods, etc. Depositional environment similar to that for the Peterson Limestone of the Gannett--freshwater lacustrine origin. Of Early Cretaceous, Aptian age.
