Summary:

Bass Mountain diabase. Nonporphyritic, dark, somewhat greenish, compact lava, occasionally vesicular and more frequently fragmental. Is contemporaneous and partly interbedded with upper part of Bragdon formation. Age is Mississippian.
Named for fact it forms southern slope of Bass Mountain, [Project City quadrangle, Shasta Co.], northern CA.
