Type section: in northern part of East Range, from SW/4 sec. 32, T. 34 N., R. 37 E., to sec. 24 and 23, T. 34 N., R. 36 E., Rose Creek 7.5-min quadrangle, Pershing Co., north-central NV. Named from nearby Auld Lang Syne Peak in sec. 12, T. 33 N., R. 36 E., Dun Glen quadrangle (Burke and Silberling, 1973).
Reference section: from NE/4 sec. 6, T. 40 N., R. 39 E., to SE/4 sec. 7, T. 41 N., R. 38 E., Paradise Valley quadrangle, Humboldt Co., northwestern NV (Burke and Silberling, 1973).
