Type section: along U.S. Route 64, 3 mi southwest of Benton Station, Benton quadrangle, Polk Co., TN. Named from Fetzer Creek, not far from type section along Ocoee River (Cooper, 1956).
Unit Name History:
Named Fetzer Tongue (Cooper, 1956).
Revised to Fetzer Limestone (Cooper, 1961).
