The middle member of the Doswell Formation is here named the Falling Creek Member for Falling Creek, a tributary of the South Anna River, Hanover Co., VA. It consists of laminated sandstone with green siltstone, green, gray, and black shale, coal, and limestone. Conformably overlies Stagg Creek Member and conformably underlies the Newfound Member. Thickness is 1200 ft (360 m). Age is Late Triassic (middle Carnian).
