This Web page contains information on activities of the National Geologic Map Database Project (NGMDB), and is intended solely for State geological survey and other personnel who have permission to submit records to the Database.

Long Term Needs


To ensure that the map catalog remains an up-to-date, viable resource, we all need to do the following:

  • enter all newly-published maps into the map catalog,


  • when a map goes out of print, update its map catalog record,


  • when a map product or its metadata is placed online, update its map record,


  • notify the USGS staff when there is a change in personnel working on the map catalog.
