Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Well exposed by narrow canyon of Zoroaster Creek, Grand Canyon region. Granite cuts across, at steep angle, the nearly vertical schistocity of the country rocks. Contact best exposed on south side of Colorado gorge (Campbell and Maxon, 1936).
