Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 535 to 606 ft, Colquitt 5 core (GGS-3199), adjacent to a small farm pond roughly 3.1 mi northwest of the courthouse in Moultrie, Colquitt Co., GA. Named from Wolf Pit Branch, a small tributary of the Ochlockonee River, 1.4 mi northwest of the type locality (Huddlestun, 1993).
Reference section (subsurface): depth-interval 675 to 700 ft, Coffee 4 core (GGS-3541) (Huddlestun, 1993).
