Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from White Ridge, a prominent ridge on eastern side of Precambrian section of Los Pinos Mountains, Socorro Co., central NM. Forms high eastern ridge crests in northern half of Los Pinos Range. Outcrop maintains width of 1 mi for 5 mi south of Highway 60, then narrows to less than 0.5 mi and continues southward another 5 mi (Stark and Dapples, 1946).
