Best outcrops are west of Rock Creek Knoll, in sec. 35, T. 17 N., R. 79 W., Carbon Co., WY; near Trail Creek, in sec. 6, T. 16 N., R. 79 W., Albany Co., WY; and between Dipper and Vagner Lakes, in T. 16 N., R. 80 W., Carbon Co., WY. Named from Vagner Lake (Karlstrom and Houston, 1979).
