Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: 4 mi south of village of Turquillo, on NM Highway 38 and 0.5 mi west on a logging road into a deep canyon, east side of Rincon Range, Mora Co., NM. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from village of Turquillo (Armstrong and Mamet, 1974).
