Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type area: the layered gneiss best exposed between Wagonroad Coulee and Tunk Mountain to the east. Type area, about 14 mi long agrees with best exposures as specified by Snook (1965). Occurs in T. 35 and 36 N., E/2 R. 26, 27, 28, and W/2 29 E., in southeast Conconully, south Tonasket, and south west Aenaes Valley 15-min quadrangles, Okanogan Co., WA (Fox and others, 1976).
