Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type area: consists of series of outcrops extending from Connecticut Route 169, on east side of Tatnic Hill, west for 2.5 mi to Stetson Road, in southeast corner of Hampton quadrangle, east-central CT. Named from exposures in area of Tatnic Hill in southern part of Danielson quadrangle, where section is more complete and contacts better exposed than elsewhere (Dixon, 1964).
